WHAT IS MATHEMATICAL INVESTIGATION?

  • It is an activity, usually a long term one, that assesses the student's ability to perform "real life" tasks.
  • It gives students an opportunity to develop alternative solutions, construct models of math, concepts/ideas, new theories.
  • In MI, there's no specific answer, no direction to take, no specific question-the investigator formulates the question.
